If Shani offers you Dust on the Wires, don't treat it like a quick scav run. This one asks for patience, route planning, and a clean extract, which is why a lot of players sort their loadout before they even think about dropping into Spaceport. If you've been collecting useful ARC Raiders Items, this is the kind of mission where that prep actually pays off. The nasty part is simple: every objective has to be done in one life. No second chance midway through. If you go down after tagging two steps, that progress is gone and you'll be doing the whole trail again on your next deployment.

Start at the eastern depot

Your first stop is the Field Depot on the east side of Spaceport. It's easy to miss if you're sprinting, so slow down a bit and look for a small structure with a tall antenna. That's the giveaway. Get inside and interact with the radio terminal to send the scouts' last message back to base. It doesn't take long, but it points you in the right direction. The log makes it clear the missing patrol had moved west, heading toward the industrial side of the map. At that point, you really want to resist random fights. The mission gets a lot easier if you stay focused and keep your ammo for places that matter.

Climb the tower near the hangar

After the depot, make your way across to the Maintenance Hangar. A lot of players instinctively push straight into the building, but that's not the move here. Instead, head just north of it and find the old Raider Tower. You've got to climb to the top and access another terminal up there. It's a slightly awkward ascent, and you're exposed while doing it, so don't linger. Hit the terminal, update the objective, then get back down. This part is where the story starts to click. The patrol didn't just wander off course. They were following odd instructions, and those instructions clearly led them somewhere bad.

Find the traces and secure the note

Next, swing around to the southwest side of the Maintenance Hangar. You're looking for a road cluttered with wreckage, especially overturned trolleys and loose debris. As you move in, you'll get the prompt to transmit traces. Do that first, then check the nearby area carefully. The patrol's remains are close by, near old barrels and tarps, not far from the road itself. That's where you'll pick up the Scout Patrol Note. This is the item that matters, so don't mess around once you have it. If your build has a safe pocket, use it right away. Plenty of players lose the note because they relax too early, and yeah, that usually only happens once.

Leave immediately and turn it in

Once the note is secured, stop looting and start thinking about the fastest exit. Head for the nearest extraction or elevator and keep checking angles because this is the moment where runs fall apart. You've already done the work, so there's no reason to gamble now. Back in Speranza, hand the note to Shani to finish the mission and claim the Fax Machine backpack charm. It's a neat reward, but most people care just as much about pushing her storyline forward and proving they got through one of the tenser Spaceport tasks without choking. If you went in prepared, kept your route tight, and made smart use of your ARC Raiders gear, the whole thing feels less like luck and more like a proper clean run.
